Celtic’s links with Liam Kelly have not gone unnoticed on the other side of Glasgow.

The Scottish Sun reported on Tuesday that the Premiership champions are battling Hamburg, Ipswich, Wigan and Barnsley to sign the highly-rated Livingston goalkeeper this summer – and the fact he has a £50,000 release-clause in his contract marks him out as one of the transfer window’s most enticing bargains.

Kelly has enjoyed a superb season between the sticks at the Tony Macaroni Arena after all.

He has kept an impressive 14 clean sheets in 33 games and his outstanding performance in April’s 0-0 draw at Celtic perhaps explains why Neil Lennon is so keen to sign a player he described as ‘excellent’ (Evening Express).

Understandably, however, Rangers fans are concerned about the prospect of their one-time academy graduate starring down the road.

Kelly spent nine years at Ibrox before leaving for Livingston last summer and the supporters have taken to Twitter to encourage the club to re-sign the 23-year-old before it is too late.

Allan McGregor is as instrumental as ever but, at 37, Rangers must look to the future and Kelly has the potential to be their number one for a decade.
