Centre-back Kortney Hause is set to sign a new contract with runaway Championship leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Kortney Hause has played just seven minutes of Championship football all season, but it seems that Wolverhampton Wanderers have no intention of letting him go just yet.
According to the Express and Star, Wolves have opened talks with the centre-back about expending his contract at Molineux. Hause’s current deal runs until the summer of 2019, and the fact that they want to tie the 22-year-old down now could suggest that they see him as an important part of their future plans.
A number of Wolves fans, however, do not see it that way.
They believe Hause is only being given an extended contract to ensure that the Midland giants do not lose him on the cheap when his deal is near to its expiration date.
Hause may have struggled for opportunities of late but talented, young, homegrown central defenders do not come around too often and you could imagine that the England under-21 ace would still command a hefty fee in the transfer market.
The former Wycombe talent was a regular in Paul Lambert’s side last season but now finds himself behind Roderick Miranda, Conor Coady, Danny Batth and the excellent Willy Boly in Nuno Espirito Santo’s plans.
So maybe it would be for the best if he moved on in the summer, just a few months after seemingly committing his future to the club.
