Everton have been linked with two £40m midfielders, Watford’s Premier League powerhouse Abdoulaye Doucoure and Lyon’s Tanguy Ndombele.

Richarlison has been a revelation since swapping Watford for Everton in the summer, scoring six Premier League goals to silence those who questioned his £50 million transfer fee.
And, perhaps buoyed by the speed of the Brazilian’s adaptation, The Mirror reports that Marco Silva is attempting to bring another of his former Watford players to Goodison Park – the powerhouse midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure.
Doucoure, who The Hornets value at £40 million, has impressed at Vicarage Road since the start of last season and has already produced four assists in 13 Premier League games across 2018/19.
But, all of a sudden, the former Granada man feels like something of an underwhelming addition. And this is all thanks to Tanguy Ndombele.
Another combative and fearsome French midfielder, the 21-year-old Lyon ace has been watched by Everton’s chief scout Martyn Glover, according to the Liverpool Echo. And, like Doucoure, he is valued at £40 million.

But for all of Doucoure’s qualities, Ndombele appears to be a player on another level entirely. Not only is he four years younger, the latter has also established himself in the French national team ahead of the Watford man and appears to have genuinely world class potential.
There are not many better midfield talents in Europe right now while his Champions League performances for Lyon, particularly against Manchester City, show that the sky is the limit.
Doucoure is a good player – Ndombele could be a great one.
