Nantes’ 11 goal Ligue 1 striker Sala is reportedly a target for Premier League quartet Wolves, West Ham United, Everton and Crystal Palace.

The highest scoring Argentinian in Europe’s major leagues is not Sergio Aguero, Mauro Icardi, Gonzalo Higuian, Paolo Dybala or even Lionel Messi. Instead, it is a rangy, 6ft 1ins centre-forward by the name of Emiliano Sala.

He is far from a household name right now but that could change soon with the Nantes talisman attracting admiring glances from across the Channel.

The Mirror (November 18, page 49), reports that four Premier League clubs, Wolverhampton Wanderers, West Ham, Everton and Crystal Palace, are all interested in the South American centre-forward.

Palace, who famously haven’t scored a home goal from open play all season, are understood to be planning a £15 million January move for Sala.

But one group of fans really don’t want to see the former Bordeaux striker signed, despite a record of 11 goals in 10 Ligue 1 starts for Nantes this season. In the eyes of some Wolves supporters, they can do a little better.

You can see why Wolves fans are so suspicious. Sala has never scored more than 12 goals in a top flight season so his current purple patch is certainly something of an anomaly – and a side who have struggled for regular goals this season would perhaps be better suited going for a player proven in the English leagues.
