Yohan Benalouane started in central defence as Nottingham Forest were held to a 2-2 Championship draw away at West Bromwich Albion on Tuesday.

Sporting a face mask that made him look like an odd combination between Zorro and Bane the Batman villain, Yohan Benalouane was always likely to catch the eye as Nottingham Forest travelled to West Brom on Tuesday night.
A January signing from Leicester City, the experienced centre-back has certainly made an impact since moving to the City Ground on an 18-month deal. Whether the impact has been positive, however, is another matter.
Benaloune returned to Forest’s starting XI after picking up a red card in the recent defeat to Birmingham City and played alongside fellow newbie Alexander Milosevic as Martin O’Neill’s side battled to a 2-2 draw at The Hawthorns.

While Forest avoided defeat, it seems the 31-year-old’s erratic style is putting fans on the edge of their seats for all the wrong reasons.
The one-time Atalanta defender is certainly unconventional after all, see a strange back-heel flick in his own penalty area. And while Benalouane is a fearsome presence in the air, he looks far less comfortable with the ball at his feet.
Forest fans could be set for an interesting few months with him at the back.
