Was Leicester City’s title winning coach all that he seemed? Not according to former Roma goalkeeper Doni.

Unpopular opinion alert. While the footballing world has united in rallying around poor Uncle Claudio, one man is rather less sympathetic of the Italian’s sudden departure from Premier League champions Leicester City, as reported by Mundo Deportivo.
The Foxes have spent almost the entire season in freefall, without a win or indeed a goal in 2017 to leave them just two points off the bottom of the table.
However, after the remarkable feat of last season, the majority verdict is that Ranieri’s dismissal is, at best, ungrateful in the extreme and, at worst, up there with Brexit and Trump. Thanks for the soundbite, Jurgen.
Nonetheless, despite his cuddly public persona, The Telegraph claim that all was not what it seemed behind the scenes at the King Power with Ranieri enduring an increasingly strained relationship with his players and popular members of his backroom staff.
And former Brazil goalkeeper Doni, who worked with the Italian at Roma, has offered a rather different perspective on the departure of the coach who dropped him unceremoniously at the Stadio Olimpico.

“Sooner or later you get what you deserve,” the now 37-year-old told Mundo Deportivo. “The lie hides for a short time, then comes the truth.”
Doni knows the veteran coach far better than most but that does not mean his opinion is likely to go down too well. Although, as Gokhan Inler and Leo Ulloa may attest, Ranieri hardly endured the perfect relationship with each and every member of his playing squad, even before the fall.
