Premier League duo West Ham United and Crystal Palace have been linked with out-of-favour Liverpool striker Dominic Solanke.
Considering that Dominic Solanke has not played a single second of first-team football for Liverpool all season, it is no surprise that the striker was raring to go for England’s U21s on Thursday night.
Aidy Boothroyd’s side claimed an impressive 2-1 win away at Italy and Solanke was the hero with two goals which highlighted the poaching ability that once made him arguably the most exciting underage striker in England during his time with Chelsea.
The 21-year-old peeled away at the far post to nod home a bullet header before adding his second after the interval, clinically converting a close-range volley after another cross into the penalty area.
In short, this is exactly what both West Ham United and Crystal Palace are looking for in the January transfer window.
The Sun reports that the Premier League duo both want to sign the 21-year-old striker on loan in the winter and their interest will surely have intensified after the one-time Vitesse Arnhem loanee struck twice in Italy.
Palace have famously failed to score a single home goal from open play this season while West Ham are worryingly reliant on Marko Arnautovic to lead the line with Javier Hernandez out of favour and Andy Carroll…well, you can guess where Andy Carroll is.
But if Solanke can bring these predatory instincts to the Premier League with the likes of Wilfried Zaha or Felipe Anderson providing the ammunition, there’s no reason to believe he cannot thrive at Selhurst Park or the London Stadium.
