Oumar Niasse is not the best striker in the world, but he’s well liked by Everton supporters who want to see him stay.
It would have been no surprise to see Oumar Niasse leave Everton for Fenerbahce in the summer, with Fotospor claiming that terms had been agreed with the Turkish giants.
A few months on, however, Niasse has been linked with Fenerbahce again – but these reports are likely to elicit a far more impassioned response from Toffees fans. Fotomac think that Fener will renew their interest in the Senegalese striker in the New Year, and this time are confident about getting a deal over the line.
But while Niasse was something of a scapegoat not so long ago, failing to make any sort of an impression following his £13.5 million move from Lokomotiv Moscow and finding himself farmed out to Hull City, the striker is now verging on cult hero territory.
He has been a rare bright spark in an awful season for The Toffees, scoring six goals in just eight appearances and delivering, if not flawless technical quality, commendable work ethic that has won him the hearts of supporters.
And although new Everton boss Sam Allardyce has made a top class striker his priority in January, per the IB Times, it would seem a little unfair for the 63-year-old to follow in Ronald Koeman’s footsteps and disregard Niasse without giving him a chance.
As Niasse has proven this season, he has the ability to score at a decent rate in the Premier League – and silence the doubters at the same time.
So while the jury is very much still out on Allardyce among Everton fans, the coach will not do his chances of winning them over much good by selling Niasse in January.
