Costel Pantilimon has been so impressive at the City Ground that Nottingham Forest want to keep the Watford loanee in the Championship.

Nottingham Forest failed to sign Denmark international Frederik Ronnow in each of the last two transfer windows.

The Championship side were desperate to bring the Brondby keeper to the City Ground last summer but despite making three bids, the last reaching the Danish club’s valuation of £2.3 million according to the Nottingham Post, Ronnow decided that he did not want to leave his homeland for the second tier of English football.

But no matter, because it seems that Forest instead have now made their priority tying down the Watford loanee Costel Pantilimon.

According to The Mirror (March 22nd, page 62), the giant Romanian has done enough to impress Forest boss Aitor Karanka after just nine appearances, in which he has kept an impressive four clean sheets.

And now a summer bid is expected to be on the cards and Watford seem unlikely to stand in his way of first-team football away from Vicarage Road.

This is not only excellent news for Forest, a side who conceded more goals than any other team in the Championship last season except a Rotherham United side who finished bottom and broke records for all the wrong reasons.

It also means they can finally turn their attentions away from Ronnow, knowing that they finally have a goalkeeper they can rely upon between the sticks.
