Michael Keane flopped badly at Everton following last summer’s £30million move from Premier League rivals Burnley.

With Marco Silva replacing Sam Allardyce at the helm, and director of football Marcel Brands arriving too, expect big changes on Merseyside this summer, with the Mirror stating that a whole host of first-team and second string players could be on their way.
But, despite reports in the Mirror back in February stating that Everton were set to dump the £30 million centre-back Keane after just one season in blue, it seems that he is not among the giant list of players facing an uncertain future.
Interestingly, the Mirror claims that two other Everton centre-halves, the rapidly declining Ashley Williams and the injury-prone Ramiro Funes Mori, are on the chopping block. And, with those two tipped to depart, it seems very unlikely now that the Toffees would be willing to part with Keane as well.
In fairness to the 25-year-old, he deserves this opportunity. Keane recovered somewhat from a dreadful, error-ridden start to his Everton career in the final few months of last season, impressing alongside Phil Jagielka in wins against the likes of Liverpool, Newcastle and Huddersfield in the spring.
He has more longevity than the 33-year-old Williams and more potential than Argentine international Funes Mori, whose erratic, combustible approach meant he was always on the verge of calamity.
But, one thing is for sure, Keane cannot afford another season like the last one.
