Scottish Premiership champions Celtic tried and failed to lure Northern Irish goalkeeper Trevor Carson from league rivals Motherwell in January.

Scott Bain has been so impressive since joining Celtic on loan from Dundee on transfer deadline day in January that the Scottish Sun claims that Brendan Rodgers wants the goalkeeper to stick around when his contract expires in the summer.
It’s easy to forget, then, that Bain was not Celtic’s first-choice target when it became clear that Craig Gordon would be on the sidelines for a number of months with injury.
The Scottish Premiership champions made a number of moves to try and lure Trevor Carson from Motherwell but the league rivals just would not sell, demanding that Celtic than double their £375,000 bid, according to the Scottish Sun.

And Carson was understandably a little rueful at being denied his big break, admitting to the Scottish Sun that a move to Parkhead would have been ‘life-changing’ for his career, profile and bank balance.
The former Sunderland stopper has got his head down and, like a model professional, has continued to perform for Motherwell, however.

In fact, he has been so impressive that the fans have voted him as the club’s Player of the Year – a feat Carson is delighted to achieve.
So before Celtic attempt to snap up Bain on a free, they should perhaps be willing to make one last move for Carson.
