Fans of both Newcastle United and West Ham want to see some ambition in the transfer market from their under-fire owners this summer.

But the latest player linked with a move to St James’ Park and the London Stadium does not exactly suggest that either Mike Ashley nor Davids Gold and Sullivan are ready to go all out to take their respective clubs to the next level.

And it is understood that Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting is a man in demand with Newcastle and West Ham joining Everton, Leicester and Watford in the race for a player who joined from Schalke on a free transfer last summer.

Newcastle and West Ham fans would surely rather see the likes of Alassane Plea, the £15 million Nice forward who is in red-hot form in Ligue 1, arrive this summer.

Choupo-Moting, however, would be a very underwhelming addition on paper.
