Wigan Athletic were hoping to take Jordan Rossiter back to England from Ibrox but Scottish Premiership giants Rangers have kept hold of the midfielder.

So it’s official. Jordan Rossiter will still be a Rangers player until the end of the season.
Rossiter looked an excellent addition when Rangers landed him for a minimal fee when his contract at Liverpool expired in the summer of 2016. But injuries have restricted the 20-year-old to just ten first-team appearances for the Gers.

Yet with Rossiter eventually staying in Glasgow, time will tell whether he can seize this opportunity to salvage his Rangers career.
The dynamic midfielder has not made an appearance for the club since August, and therefore has not played once since Graeme Murty took over on the sidelines. But if he can prove his fitness over the next few months there is no reason to believe he could not force his way into the side.

Rossiter is a player with real potential, having starred for England at youth level and even being compared to Steven Gerrard while rising through the ranks at Anfield. And, at just 20, it is far too soon to write him off.
But with Rangers bringing in midfield reinforcements during the last two transfer windows, Rossiter has a tough task ahead of him. And, in reality, he probably cannot afford another six months of anonymity with Rangers already in need of trimming down their squad.
