Scottish Premiership giants Rangers are overhauling their squad as Steven Gerrard prepares to take over at Ibrox.

Steven Gerrard is unveiled as the new manager of Rangers football Club at Ibrox Stadium on May 4, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Changes are certainly afoot at Rangers.

Scott Arfield has already arrived and he is expected to be the first of many as Steven Gerrard aims to shape his new squad in his image. But Rangers need to make way for all these new signings and, according to the Scottish Sun, there could be a whole host of players heading for the exit.

But latest reports suggest that arguably Rangers’ four best performers of 2017/18 could all be bidding farewell.

The Scottish Sun states that Rangers will listen to offers for Alfredo Morelos and Josh Windass this summer while James Tavernier is a target for Crystal Palace.

Colombian striker Morelos was heavily tipped to leave for China in January but stayed until the end of the campaign and finished his debut season in Scotland with 18 goals in all competitions.

The former HJK Helsinki frontman was Rangers’ joint top scorer alongside, you guessed it, Windass. In his second season in Glasgow, Windass blossomed into a lethal goalscoring midfielder but, according to The Sun, could leave for the Premier League with Cardiff and Burnley linked with a £3 million move.

Josh Windass of Rangers controls the ball during the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Rangers and Aberdeen at Ibrox Stadium on January 24, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Tavernier, meanwhile, was arguably Rangers’ Player of the Season, producing nine assists and scoring another nine himself from right-back.

And we haven’t even mentioned David Bates, the promising young Scottish centre-back who stood out among a bad defensive bunch but signed a pre-contract agreement with Hamburg when Rangers were unable to match his wage demands, as reported by the Daily Record.

Rangers are in need of an overhaul, but letting four of their finest performers go would surely be a major risk.
