Scottish Premiership champions Celtic signed Scott Bain on loan from Dundee, after they had failed to sign Motherwell and Oxford United’s number one.

Scott Bain was left on the bench as Celtic suffered a shock 1-0 defeat to Kilmarnock on Saturday.
But it seems only a matter of time before the Dundee loanee replaces veteran Dorus de Vries between the sticks for Brendan Rodgers’ side. The question is: Will Bain only be at Celtic until the end of the season or a little longer?
The uncapped Scot is out of contract in the summer after all and, if he impresses between now and then, it is impossible to rule out Bain earning a long-term deal with the Scottish champions.
The concern, however, should be that he was clearly not Celtic’s first-choice option when long-term number one Craig Gordon was ruled out for up to three months just before transfer deadline day.

And Sky Sports states that Celtic made an eleventh hour move to sign the impressive Simon Eastwood from Oxford United. The 28-year-old, who moved to the Kassam Stadium on a free from Blackburn Rovers in 2016, has enjoyed a superb campaign and has nine clean sheets to his name.

That said, the League One side refused to sell any of their key players during the winter window, meaning Eastwood was denied his chance at Celtic and the Scottish champions instead turned their attention to Bain.
The Dundee-owned stopper clearly was not at the top of Celtic’s January wishlist, which means he has work to do to show he is good enough to be Rodgers’ number one. Because it seems like he was something of a last resort.
