Scottish Premiership giants Rangers want Connor Goldson from Brighton – and the Premier League outfit appear to have a replacement lined up.

Steven Gerrard is aiming to reinforce Rangers’ leaky defence this summer and the Brighton centre-back Connor Goldson has emerged as a genuine target.

The Star states that Rangers have made a bid of £600,000 for Goldson though The Seagulls turned that down as they want a fee in the region of £1 million.

Though The Argus believes that the 25-year-old is a prime target for Rangers this summer and the Scottish Premiership giants are expected to make a new offer in the very near future. Goldson, who only made three league appearances last season, reportedly finds the prospect of playing under Gerrard at Ibrox ‘irresistable’.

And, in a further boost, The Sun seems to suggest that Brighton have now identified a replacement for their Wolverhampton-born centre-back.

It is understood that Chris Hughton’s side are rivalling Middlesbrough and Reading for Lokomotiva Zagreb ace Denis Kolinger, who has impressed in the Croatian top flight over the last few months.

Croatia international Kolinger will cost just £1 million and is keen to move to England this summer – and Brighton will surely have an advantage over the Championship pair as they can offer Premier League football at The Amex.

So Rangers should take a vested interest in where Kolinger ends up this summer, because his future could be the trigger for Goldson to make his move north of the border.
