Championship giants Nottingham Forest are likely to see a number of their best players targeted by Premier League clubs again this summer.

Nottingham Forest fans have unfortunately had to get used to their bright young things being snatched away from the City Ground before they’ve even learned to fly.

Supporters barely saw anything of Patrick Bamford before he embarked on a long and frustrating career on the fringes of Chelsea, while Jamaal Lascelles, Karl Darlow and Oliver Burke (below) didn’t last long in the first team before they were snapped up.

And Nottingham Forest can expect to field offers once again this summer, with young duo Matthew Bondswell and Alex Mighten attracting interest from bonafide Premier League giants in Liverpool and Manchester United, according to the Nottingham Post.

Fortunately, however, manager Aitor Karanka has suggested that things could change this summer. Speaking to the Nottingham Post, the Spaniard has confirmed that Nottingham Forest have no plans to cash in on their prized assets this summer amid more rumours of Premier League interest.

Ben Brereton, the coveted academy graduate, has been relentlessly linked with a move away, and the same can be said for versatile fans’ favourite Ben Osborn. Centre-back Joe Worrall (below), meanwhile, was the subject of a £12 million January bid from Burnley, but doesn’t appear to be going anywhere fast.

Which is excellent news for Nottingham Forest. If they want to push for the play-offs next season, it makes no sense to let their best players and homegrown talent leave, no matter how much money is put on the table.

This is a major step in the right direction for the club, and fans will be hoping that Nottingham Forest’s young contingent will stay and find glory in 18/19.
