Cenk Tosun has struggled to make an impact since swapping Besiktas for the Premier League and Everton and Newcastle can breathe a sigh of relief.

Everton spent months trying to lure Cenk Tosun to Goodison Park but it appears to be going wrong already.
The Toffees eventually paid £27 million to lure the Turkish striker from Besiktas but he has not scored in three Premier League games so far and, worryingly, was left on the bench for Saturday’s 3-1 win against Crystal Palace.
Of course it takes time to adapt to a new league, climate and culture. But there may be more to Tosun’s slow start than meets the eye with the Mail claiming that majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri is less than impressed with director of football Steve Walsh’s decision to pay such a huge sum for Tosun.

It is also understood that manager Sam Allardyce feels Tosun does not work hard enough in training. This is an issue, then, that threatens to become a big problem before long.
So Newcastle United, for once, might be pleased that a deal did not go through.

Newcastle are clearly in need of a goal-scorer and reports suggested that owner Mike Ashley was even willing to break the club’s £17 million transfer record to bring one to St James’.
But with Tosun struggling badly at Goodison Park, it is difficult to imagine that things would be going any better for him on Tyneside. The last thing Newcastle need right now is for a £27 million, record-breaking striker to be a massive flop.
