Lewis Morgan has made just five subistute appearances in the Scottish Premiership for Celtic, months after reportedly turning down Old Firm rivals Rangers

Lewis Morgan was at the centre of a tug of war between Scotland’s two biggest clubs this time last year.
In the midst of a fine season for St Mirren, Herald Scotland reported that Rangers wanted to bring Morgan back to Ibrox, four years after they released the young winger from their academy.
Just a few weeks later, however, the Scottish international signed a contract with Old Firm rivals Celtic instead as he felt, justifiably, that Brendan Rodgers was the right manager to further his development, according to Herald Scotland.
Almost 12 months on, however, should Morgan be wondering whether he made a mistake?
Yes, Rodgers has launched the careers of Raheem Sterling, Moussa Dembele, Kieran Tierney and co but Morgan is yet to really get a look in at Celtic thanks in part to injuries but also due to the form of the players ahead of him in the pecking order.
The 22-year-old has made just five league appearances for The Hoops with all of those coming from the bench. And it’s tempting to wonder whether Morgan would have been handed a bigger role at Rangers.

Because Steven Gerrard, who was appointed Rangers manager four months after Morgan sealed his move to Celtic, has shown throughout his short managerial career that he is willing to throw youngsters in at the deep end with Glenn Middleton, Ovie Ejaria, Joe Worrall and co becoming key players under the former Liverpool captain.
If Morgan had signed for Rangers in January, it is likely that he’d be a key player now with Gerrard expressing a fondness for direct and skilful wingers – even if this means that Ryan Kent probably wouldn’t have been needed to arrive on loan from Liverpool.
