If Leeds United had appointed Paul Heckingbottom a little earlier, maybe Oli McBurnie would be at Leeds United rather than Championship rivals Barnsley.

Oli McBurnie has had to wait a while to score his first Barnsley goal.
The Swansea City striker thought he had joined the South Yorkshire side on loan in August, only for the deal to fall through as the paperwork was not completed in time. Six months later, however, McBurnie was finally a Barnsley player, and it has not taken him long to get off the mark.
In his first start for the club, McBurnie ran from 25 yards out, skipped past a number of challenges and slotted a composed finish into the far corner to secure a 1-1 home draw with Yorkshire and relegation rivals Sheffield Wednesday.

The surprise, however, is that Leeds United did not make a move for the highly-rated Scotland under-21 international before the winter window slammed shut.
And yes, Pierre Michel Lasogga has scored three in his last four games but the big German is inconsistent to say the least, and lacking any sort of convincing back-up in Paul Heckingbottom’s squad.

So, ironically, a player Heckingbottom brought to Barnsley in January is now looking like the sort of player he would surely love to call on at Leeds.
Who knows, if the Whites had given Thomas Christiansen the boot and hired Hecky a few weeks earlier, maybe McBurnie would be scoring sensational solo goals in white rather than red.
