So far this summer, Aston Villa have signed a play-maker from Birmingham City and a centre-back from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
All that’s left is for Dean Smith’s big-spending side to raid West Bromwich Albion for their giant defender Ahmed Hegazi.
According to the BBC, Aston Villa are looking to rob another Midland rival after pulling off deals for Jota and Kortney Hause. Manager Smith and sporting director Jesus Garcia Pitarch both travelled to Cairo over the weekend to watch Kasimpasa winger Trezeguet as well as West Brom’s fans favourite Hegazi.
Aston Villa might have already spent over £20 million on making Tyrone Mings’ loan deal from Bournemouth permanent but the BBC believes that Hegazi is next on their radar as the Premier League newcomers aim to create an all-new central defensive partnership.
The 28-year-old was outstanding in the play-off semi-final clash between The Villans and The Baggies in May, before being sent off late on, and it seems his towering performance didn’t go unnoticed.
But after losing Dwight Gayle and with Jay Rodriguez heading back to Burnley, seeing Hegazi in claret and blue could be the final straw for these already worrisome West Brom fans.
