Aberdeen’s Scottish Premiership centre-back Scott McKenna remains a January target for Aston Villa.

Aston Villa might have seen a £7 million bid for Scott McKenna rejected in the summer but Steve Bruce is not willing to give up on the Scotland international just yet.
In quotes reported by the Evening Express on Wednesday, the Villa manager has admitted that he is still keen to sign the 21-year-old Aberdeen centre-back.
“He is someone we have had a look at, Scott,” Bruce said when asked whether McKenna was still on his radar ahead of the January transfer window.
Aberdeen will not let McKenna go without a fight, however. The Daily Record reported that the youngster, who captained Scotland in only his fourth international appearance, is valued at £10 million, which would make him the most expensive defender in Aston Villa’s history.
And Dons boss Derek McInnes has now spoken of his admiration for McKenna, which should give Villa fans an indication of how talented he is.

“We are not dealing with someone who is a standard footballer. He is something a bit special,” the former West Brom captain told the Evening Express.
“They don’t make them like Scott too often these days. He is a brilliant boy.”
Villa have only one senior centre-back on their books and have been linked with a number of experienced free agents such as John Terry and James Collins.
So signing McKenna would be far more of a long-term option.
