Nottingham Forest were beaten to the signing of striker Jack Marriott by Championship and East Midland rivals Derby County.

On current form, Jack Marriott is looking worth every penny of his £3 million transfer fee, as reported by Sky Sports.
After an outstanding debut season at Peterborough United, in which he finished as the top scorer in the Football League, Marriott has taken to life in the Championship like a duck to water.
The former Luton Town man has scored eight goals in his last 13 games, including a sublime glancing header in the 1-0 win at Wigan Athletic on Saturday.
And, with Frank Lampard’s Rams set to host Nottingham Forest in the first East Midlands derby of the season next Monday, the expected presence of Marriott in the starting XI will provide a rather intriguing subplot in an already interesting match-up.

After all, Peterborough’s outspoken chairman Barry Fry claimed in July that Marriott wanted to join Forest before rocking up at Pride Park instead, as reported by the Peterborough Telegraph.
And Forest will be praying that Marriott, who is Derby’s danger man alongside Harry Wilson and Mason Mount, endures a rare off day against Aitor Karanka’s side. Although on recent evidence that does not look likely.
