Eldin Jakupovic is expected to leave Leicester City with Championship promotion challengers Derby County keen – but where are Nottingham Forest?

Eldin Jakupovic of Hull City celebrates after the Premier League match between Manchester United and Hull City at Old Trafford on February 1, 2017 in Manchester, England.

Eldin Jakupovic had his pick of the clubs last summer when Hull City were relegated from the Premier League.

Alongside Harry Maguire and Sam Clucas, the Swiss shot-stopper had stood out in a difficult season and eventually got a move to Leicester City.

But, stuck behind Kasper Schmeichel and Ben Hamer in the pecking order, Jakupovic’s only appearances for The Foxes came in FA Cup clashes with Fleetwood Town. And, according to the Hull Daily Mail, he could be on the move again with Derby County among the sides interested.

But is Jakupovic needed more at another East Midlands outfit, one Derby fans call their bitter rivals?

After all, if the former Leyton Orient loanee moved to Pride Park he would more than likely find himself glued to the bench once again. Scott Carson has enjoyed another superb season after all and is going nowhere this summer.

Nottingham Forest, however, are in far greater need of a new goalkeeper.

The City Ground side have lacked a consistent, reliable number one since the days of Karl Darlow and it is still uncertain whether Costel Pantilimon will make his loan move from Watford permanent this summer.

In any case, Jakupovic could possibly be seen as an upgrade on the giant Romanian, who made a couple of errors to take the shine off an excellent start to life in Forest colours.

If there is one East Midland giant who wants to sign Jakupovic, they should be wearing red rather than white.
