Derby County and Nottingham Forest both picked up impressive Championship wins at the weekend.

There were plenty of happy faces in the East Midlands on Saturday evening.

Both Nottingham Forest and Derby County picked up impressive away wins as they maintained their Championship promotion challenge in match-day 18. Aitor Karanka’s side won 2-0 away at Hull City while Frank Lampard’s Derby recovered from an early Adam Reach goal to beat Sheffield Wednesday 2-1 at Hillsborough.

As a result, one player from both Forest and Derby has been included in the official EFL Team of the Week.

Michael Dawson was arguably the pick of Forest’s players in his first game back at former club Hull, leading by example from the back and securing an impressive three-point haul. Forest have conceded just one goal in the last five Championship games in which the 35-year-old has started.

Jack Marriott, meanwhile, was Derby’s match-winner and not for the first time in the Steel City. The £5 million striker took his tally to six goals in his last eight games with a clinically taken first-time finish, swept effortlessly into the bottom corner.

With both sides winning, Derby and Forest have kept pace with the promotion pack. The Rams occupy sixth position with 31 points, while their rivals are one place below on 30.
