Scottish Premiership champions Celtic are facing real uncertainty over Dedryck Boyata’s future with La Liga outfit Sevilla reportedly leading the race.

Heading into the last fortnight of the transfer window, it looks increasingly likely that Dedryck Boyata will be on his way out of Celtic.
The defender’s agent claimed in the Daily Record that he would sign a pre-contract agreement in January and leave next summer on a free. So, even though Celtic do not want to sell, cashing in now makes perfect sense.
What makes a little less sense, however, is Boyata’s potential destination. According to AS, Sevilla have made signing the £9 million-rated Boyata a priority with the 28-year-old keen to move away from Parkhead.
It is reported that the Andalusians are expected to step up their interest if Nico Pareja leaves. But even if the experienced Argentine does bid farewell, Sevilla have a whole host of talented centre-backs and Boyata could be swapping a regular starting place at Celtic for life on the bench in Spain.

Sevilla already boast the impressive Denmark captain Simon Kjaer (above, left). And, with former manager Joaquin Caparros as the director of football, they have brought in three new central defenders already this summer; Sergi Gomes from Celta Vigo, Joris Gnangon from Rennes and Ibrahim Amadou from Lille, although the latter also plays in defensive midfield.
Boyata, then, is far from a guaranteed starter in Seville. Leaving Celtic in this manner would be one thing but where is the logic of sacrificing his chances of regular league football?
