Myles Beerman’s opportunities at Rangers look to have dried up after they signed Declan John from Cardiff City.

Pedro Caixinha’s willingness to give youth a chance earned him plenty of admirers at Ibrox last season even when results were starting to turn against him.
Yet, even that had its downsides. After all, handing 18-year-old left-back Myles Beerman his fourth and fifth senior appearances against a fearsome Celtic attack probably was not the smartest bit of management.
Rangers lost both games, in league and cup, by an aggregate score of 7-1. And, in the nightmarish 5-1 home thrashing at the hands of Brendan Rodgers’ treble-winners, Beerman’s inexperience was cruelly exposed.

Since the start of the new season, however, Caixinha has somewhat marginalised the likes of Beerman and talented centre-back David Bates after bringing in new recruits in the transfer window.
Further down the pecking order
The arrival of Declan John on a season-long loan from Cardiff City looks certain to force Beerman, who has not made a league appearance yet in 2017/18, further down the pecking order with captain Lee Wallace still the first choice at left-back.

Therefore, you wonder whether it would be beneficial for Beerman to leave Rangers on loan for the time being. After all, having sampled first-team football last season and largely excelling bar that Old Firm horror show, it would seem counterproductive to force Beerman back into reserve-team action.
And, with first-team opportunities proving harder to come by this season, a short-term spell away from Ibrox is surely the most sensible step for Beerman’s development.
