Lewis Dobbin is yet to make his debut for Everton but will he catch Marco Silva’s eye?

Everton coach David Unsworth has ‘absolutely no doubt’ that 16-year-old Lewis Dobbin is going all the way to the very top as the teenager starts to make his mark behind the scenes on Merseyside, as reported by the Liverpool Echo.
At just 16, Dobbin is one of the youngest players in Unsworth’s U23 squad.
The Stoke-born striker has been turning heads at academy level ever since joining the Toffees five years ago and he is rapidly rising through the ranks at Finch Farm, coming off the bench during Tuesday’s 2-0 win away at Burton Albion in the EFL Trophy.
The likes of Tom Davies, Jonjoe Kenny, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Beni Banginime have all been rewarded with their senior debut in the last few years after impressing at reserve level and Unsworth is confident that it’s only a matter of time before Dobbin follows in their footsteps.
“I’ve been champing at the bit to get him involved,” Unsworth said of the England youth star, who has two goals in five games for Everton’s U18s this season.
“He’s going to be a top player, there’s absolutely no doubt about that and the great thing tonight was that we had seven subs so it was great to get him involved.

“I was desperate to throw him on and he showed little glimpses of his pace and movement and there is an awful lot to work with there. I think he’s got a very bright future.”
Everton don’t really have a natural goalscorer right now so Marco Silva could do a lot worse than to look to the academy for a potential solution with the likes of Ellis Sims making a big impression behind the scenes.
And if Dobbin continues to thrive well beyond his age group, he can aim to make his Toffees debut at the same age as a certain Wayne Rooney.
