Premier League outfit Everton drew 1-1 with Barnsley in the Checkatrade Trophy on Tuesday night.

The future looks bright for Everton Football Club.
The Toffees currently boast some of the most exciting young talents anywhere in English football, after all, with the likes of Tom Davies, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Jonjoe Kenny and Mason Holgate establishing themselves in the first-team after helping the U23s win the Premier League 2 title in 2017.
Ademola Lookman, Beni Baningime and co are also bubbling beneath the surface – and it seems that there is another generation ready and waiting to make their mark too.
Everton came back to draw 1-1 against League One side Barnsley in the Checkatrade Trophy on Wednesday, with Bassala Sambou heading home to cancel out a Ryan Hedges header. And U23 boss David Unsworth has paid special praise to his fresh-faced centre-back partnership for standing firm against a dangerous Tykes side.
“We probably should have won it. I thought young Con Ouzounidis and Ryan Astley were outstanding at the back,” Unsworth told the club’s official website.

Ouzounidis signed his first professional contract back in July and has impressed at U23 level with former Everton defender Ramiro Funes-Mori tipping him for a bright future towards the end of last season.
Astley, meanwhile, has only recently turned 17 and is already starting to establish himself one step below the first-team.
