Wan-Bissaka has been a revelation in the Premier League with Crystal Palace but could he be on his way to Tottenham Hotspur?

Aaron Wan-Bissaka of Crystal Palace looks on during the Premier League match between Crystal Palace and West Ham United at Selhurst Park on February 9, 2019 in London, United Kingdom.

Danny Murphy has told his former club Tottenham Hotspur to sign the Crystal Palace flyer Aaron Wan-Bissaka, while speaking to Jim White on talkSPORT (4 March, 10.30am).

Wan-Bissaka is celebrating 12 months as Palace’s first-choice right-back, with the Camden-born defender going from unknown academy prospect to one of English football’s biggest talents in just a year.

Solid at the back and a major threat going forward, he looks like the complete full-back already at the age of 21. As a result, the Sun reports that Everton, Arsenal, Manchester City and Bayern Munich are all keen.

Murphy, however, believes Spurs should also be in the mix as he sees Wan-Bissaka as an upgrade on the erratic Serge Aurier and the out of form Kieran Tripper, who scored a horror own goal in the 2-0 defeat at Chelsea last week.

“He’s looking like the real deal. Super athletic and confident with his abilities to defend one on one but gets forward and carries a threat as well,” said Murphy.

“Unfortunately for Palace fans, maybe they’ll keep him another year but (he’ll leave eventually).

“Has he overtaken Trippier? Can he? Do Tottenham want an upgrade? (Trippier) doesn’t play every week, as he switches him and Aurier. Is he not sure, Pochettino?.

“The lad is that special. I think you’re looking at over £40 million.”

It seems unlikely that Palace would be willing to cash in on Wan-Bissaka, given that they have played hardball over another of their favourite sons Wilfried Zaha in recent transfer windows.

But it remains to be seen how owner Steve Parish will react if a £40 million offer arrives on his table.
