Wolverhampton Wanderers have made a great start to life in the Premier League and drew away at Manchester United on Saturday.

Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo celebrates winning the Sky Bet Championship match between Wolverhampton and Brentford at Molineux on January 2, 2018 in Wolverhampton, England.

Wolverhampton Wanderers might have cruised to the Championship title last season but the real test of their quality was yet to come. But Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have made the step up to the Premier League look pretty straightforward.

They might have won just two from six games but that overlooks those impressive draws against both Manchester clubs. They were arguably the better team away at Old Trafford on Saturday, Joao Moutinho firing home a deserved equaliser after Fred gave United the lead in the first half.

It seems that the sky is the limit for a Wolves side boasting some of the richest owners around and the former Liverpool, Tottenham and Fulham midfielder Danny Murphy certainly believes that the Black Country outfit are the real deal.

“They played really well (against United). They’re the most accomplished side I’ve ever seen come out the Championship,” Murphy told Jim White on talkSPORT (September 24, 11.30am).

“I know they’ve spent money but another thing they had is good organisation and good work ethic. And money doesn’t always buy you that. They have got a really good team spirit, very organised, hard to break down and when they break (counter attack) they break.”

One thing Murphy is not so sure about, however, is the price tag Wolves have slapped on Ruben Neves’ head.

According to The Times, Wolves are demanding a Premier League record £110 million amid interest from Manchester City. But, when asked about the fee, Murphy replied with a dismissive “no”.
