Nottingham Forest were allegedly in talks to add Sporting Lisbon’s Primeira Liga starlet Daniel Podence to their Championship title-chasing squad.

Nottingham Forest have enjoyed a superb summer so far. The new signings are in the double digits and some of the players who have arrived at the City Ground, particularly Joao Carvalho and Gil Dias, look like they could take the Championship by storm.
One player Forest did not manage to agree a deal for, however, is Daniel Podence.
Like Carvalho, Dias and Diogo Goncalves, Podence is one of the biggest hopes of Portuguese football and Zero Zero reported a month ago that the 21-year-old had held talk with Nottingham Forest.
This was after he had terminated his contract with Sporting Lisbon following a tumultuous few months at the Iberian giants, whose players and staff were attacked by masked men at their own training ground.

Eventually, however, the ambitious Forest failed to agree a deal to sign Podence and he moved to Evangelos Marinakis’ other club instead – the Greek giants Olympiakos.
The Piraeus side initially landed Podence for free but, according to the BBC, could now be set to face a massive bill. It is reported that Sporting want compensation after losing the youngster for nothing and will demand up to £36 million for Podence.
Maybe missing out was a blessing in disguise for Forest.
