Scottish Premiership giants Rangers are set to bring Harry Wilson to Ibrox from Premier League outfit Liverpool.

There can’t really be too much argument that Daniel Candeias was the best player brought to Rangers during Pedro Caixinha’s major recruitment drive last summer – not that there is a whole host of competition.
The Portuguese winger arrived at Ibrox last summer from Benfica in a £750,000 deal, according to the Scottish Sun, and it’s fair to say he was an unknown quantity. But Candeias ended the season with eight goals and 13 assists in all competitions – not to mention the club’s Player of the Year award.
But, with Caixinha’s permanent successor Steven Gerrard leading a massive overhaul of an underachieving squad, could Candeias’ place come under severe threat?

The 21-year-old has boasted wonderkid status ever since he made his Wales debut at the age of just 16 and Gerrard obviously knows him well from his time as a player and a coach at the Merseyside giants.
Wilson will arrive in Scotland on the back of a fine loan spell at Hull City, in which his intelligence, skill and impressive end product helped him to seven goals in just 12 Championship starts.

And the quick-footed youngster will expect to compete with the more direct, old-school Candeias for a place on the right hand side of Rangers’ attack.
Of all the players in Rangers’ squad, it would be very harsh indeed to replace Candeias but Gerrard needs to be ruthless if he is to close that huge gap between the best and the rest.
