Juventus’ flying right-back could be on his way to Manchester City, meaning Bacary Sagna could be allowed to leave – with Everton thought to be waiting in the wings.

FC Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola (R) talks to Daniel Alves

Dani Alves may have starred at the very top of the European game for over ten years, but that doesn’t mean he is finished yet. Far from it. After six La Liga titles and three Champions Leagues with Barcelona, not to mention two UEFA Cup crowns in Sevilla colours, the 33-year-old has his heart set on yet another trophy laden campaign with Juventus.

Yet, according to the Daily Mail, one season with the Bianconeri could lead to a long-awaited switch to the Premier League at the end of the season, with Alves reported to have made contact with Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola, with whom he still has an excellent relationship after an exceptional spell together in Catalonia.

Manchester City, who are very much a work in progress as Guardiola aims to mould a team in his image, are reported to be concerned about Alves’ £120,000 a week demands. He’ll be 34 before long after all.

Yet, if one of the world game’s most consistent victors is to make the move to Manchester in the summer, that would surely spell the end of Bacary Sagna’s Manchester City career.

The veteran Frenchman is out of contract at the end of the season, but still has plenty to offer despite his advancing years.

Le 10 Sport claimed recently that Everton had identified the former Arsenal right-back as an ideal addition to the squad, probably as an experienced understudy to Seamus Coleman.

Furthermore, with Ronald Koeman experimenting with a back three at times, Sagna’s versatility could be a key component in his chances of swapping Manchester for Merseyside.

And with Alves reportedly on the radar, there appears very little chance that Manchester City will extend his stay beyond the end of the season. Everton may therefore have very little difficulty getting their man.
