Premiership champions Celtic will face Motherwell in the Scottish Cup final and the underdogs’ main danger should be Curtis Main.
Celtic fans will be keeping a keen eye on Motherwell frontman Curtis Main in Saturday’s Scottish Cup final.
Not only is the stocky striker perhaps Well’s best chance of stopping Celtic from winning successive domestic trebles, he also has his fair share of admirers among the Hoops’ support.
Main scored twice in the 3-0 semi-final win against Aberdeen a month ago and Celtic fans were very impressed by his ferocious and clinical display, some going as far as to compare him to Parkhead legend John Hartson.
And the 25-year-old, who moved to Fir Park on an 18-month deal from Portsmouth back in January as a replacement for talismanic top scorer Louis Moult, now has the perfect chance to show why Celtic should consider taking a chance on him this summer.
Speculation has suggested that Moussa Dembele could be about to play his last game for the Scottish Premiership champions, while it is uncertain as things stand whether PSG loanee Odsonne Edouard will still be a Celtic player next season, even though Brendan Rodgers has confirmed to Sky Sports that he would like to keep the Frenchman.
Main has scored a respectable eight goals in 20 games for Motherwell and would certainly give Celtic something different; a more physical, old-school option in attack though, after a nomadic career to date, it would be a major surprise if he was handed his big break in Glasgow.
But if he can replicate his semi-final performance at Hampden Park, you cannot rule out Main catching Rodgers’ eye.
