Premier League strugglers Newcastle United released Curtis Good after just two games for the Magpies.
Curtis Good will be best remembered in English football for reaching the EFL Cup final on loan at Bradford rather than his long and uneventful spell at Newcastle United.
The Australian defender made just two appearances for the Magpies during six years at St James’ Park. Injuries certainly did not help Good’s chances of making the step up from the youth team to the first-team but, once he was finally released in June at the age of 25, he had cost Newcastle almost £2 million in wages, according to the Chronicle.
Good has had to wait another three months to find a new club after a trial at Blackpool failed to materialise into a move.
But, finally, the one-time Australian international has been given a chance to get his career back on track.
Good has returned to his homeland with Melbourne City, signing a one-year deal with the team managed by former Manchester United youth coach Warren Joyce.
The centre-back started his career with Melbourne Heart and the club has since been re-named due to their connection with Premier League champions Manchester City. And he will be hoping to stave off the injuries and play regular football again after so many years out of action.
