Championship promotion hopefuls Boro reportedly wanted to offer Jairo Riedewald an escape from his Premier League nightmare at Selhurst Park.

Middlesbrough were left disappointed over the weekend when Morten Thorsby sealed his move from Heerenveen to Sampdoria.
TEAMtalk claimed that Boro chairman Steve Gibson had progressed talks with the Norway international, only for the 22-year-old to turn them down in favour of a move to Serie A.
It seems that Tony Pulis’s promotion-chasing side are set to miss out on another January transfer target.
TEAMtalk linked Dutch defender Jairo Riedewald with a move to the Riverside on Monday but it seems that the Crystal Palace flop has his heart set on a move elsewhere.
The Independent is reporting that Riedewald is keen on a move to La Liga with Celta Vigo. And it is understood that Palace will not stand in his way with the 22-year-old having failed to make a single Premier League appearance under Roy Hodgson all season.

This will bring an end to an underwhelming 18 months at Selhurst Park.
The Holland international arrived amid big expectations in the summer of 2017, costing £7.9 million when he signed from Ajax (The Guardian).
But the departure of Frank de Boer after just four games last season, and the subsequent arrival of Hodgson, ended Riedewald’s hopes of being a key player in Palace colours.
