Championship high-flyers Boro reportedly want Jason Puncheon but who will offer Pape Souare and Jonny Williams an escape from Premier League Palace?

With just over a week remaining in the transfer window, it seems that Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson is hoping to cut adrift some of the club’s dead wood.

According to The Standard, Palace have made three players available, including club captain Jason Puncheon.

The experienced midfielder has been a key player at Selhurst Park since the Londoners were promoted back to the Premier League in 2013 but has not featured in eight months after suffering a serious knee injury against Manchester City.

The report claims that Puncheon, who was omitted from the matchday squad for both of Palace’s Premier League fixtures so far this season, will be allowed to leave on loan. TEAMtalk stated on Tuesday that Championship high-flyers Middlesbrough were leading the race.

The Standard adds that left-back Pape Souare and midfielder Jonny Williams have also been made available. Like Puncheon, both have also struggled with injuries in recent times with the latter restricted to just seven starts during a loan spell at Sunderland last season.

Souare, meanwhile, has made just five first-team appearances since returning from a broken leg he suffered in a car crash in 2016.

The former Lille defender is behind Patrick Van Aanholt and Jeffrey Schlupp in the pecking order.
