Premier League trio Southampton, Crystal Palace and Cardiff City need a striker – so what about Roma’s Serie A star Edin Dzeko?

As one Crystal Palace fan perceptively points out, why would Edin Dzeko leave the Italian giants of Roma for a Premier League relegation battle?
The 32-year-old former Manchester City striker did admit this week that he is open to returning to England as he approaches the end of his career at the top level. But Dzeko can surely do better than Crystal Palace, Southampton or Cardiff City, all of whom are interested in signing the Bosnian in January according to The Mirror.

Even in his 30s, Dzeko remains one of the most lethal centre-forwards anywhere in European football. He scored 63 goals for Roma between 2016 and 2018, including a remarkable 39 goal haul in his first full season at the Stadio Olimpico.
There is no doubt, then, that he would be a genuinely perfect addition for a Palace side who have failed to score a single home goal all season with Christian Benteke’s dreadful form showing no signs of ending.
And with chairman Steve Parish seemingly unwilling to spend big in recent windows, no wonder Palace fans are not exactly counting down the days until Dzeko’s arrival at Selhurst Park.
