Swansea City have been keen admirers of Inter Milan forward Eder over the years but are sitting back as he heads to relegation rivals Crystal Palace.

Crystal Palace appear to be the only club keen to take advantage of Eder’s uncertain future at Serie A giants Inter Milan.

Inter need to sell in order to fund additions this month with the BBC stating that they have offered a significant loan fee in order to bring in Daniel Sturridge from Liverpool.

And the England international is expected to take the place of Eder at the San Siro. The 31-year-old has not started a league game all season and, according to the Daily Mail, is in talks over a proposed £8.5 million move to Crystal Palace.

Eder has a decent goal-scoring record in Italy, managing eight for Inter last season, and combines this with intelligent link-play and versatility in attack. But it’s not just Palace who could do with freshening up their final third.

The Mail adds that Swansea City have watched Eder closely in recent seasons, albeit without being able to lure him to the Liberty Stadium. Now, however, is the time to pounce with Inter likely to sell.

A shock 1-0 win against Liverpool on Monday night was unexpected and potentially crucial in their survival fight but it should not paper over the cracks. Swansea are crying out for creativity and a goal threat in attack.

They are still the least prolific side in the top flight and remain stuck to the bottom of the table.

A bargain £8.5 million fee, then, should make Eder a no-brainer for Swansea. But have they left it too late?
