Seldom-seen Celtic right-back Cristian Gamboa is reportedly likely to leave the Scottish Premiership giants for Major League Soccer in America.

There is a nagging feeling among some Celtic supporters that Cristian Gamboa has not had a fair crack of the whip at Parkhead.
The Costa Rican right-back has been used mostly as an afterthought since arriving in the summer of 2016 after a similarly forgettable spell at West Brom. Despite impressing with his speed and swashbuckling approach when given an opportunity, he has never really looked like challenging Mikael Lustig for a place in the starting XI.
And following the emergence of teenager Anthony Ralston, who signed a new long-term contract last week, the Scottish Sun reports that Gamboa may be allowed to cut his spell at Celtic short this month.

It is understood that the 28-year-old is hoping to find his form ahead of the World Cup in Russia this summer, and an exit could be on the cards with clubs over in America keen to hand Gamboa an escape route from the green half of Glasgow.
It appears that there is no obvious reason why Celtic should stand in Gamboa’s way. The former Rosenborg ace, who shot to fame at the last World Cup in Brazil as he helped Costa Rica to the quarter-finals, has barely featured in 2017/18.

In total, he has made just two appearances for Celtic this season and has not featured in the league since the 1-0 win against Dundee in mid-October.
Lustig may be getting on a bit these days, but Ralston looks like being Celtic’s first-choice right-back for the foreseeable future, much like fellow academy starlet Kieran Tierney on the left.
There appears to be no space, then, for Gamboa.
