Everton manager Marco Silva should consider reuniting with his former Watford striker Deeney, who has started the Premier League season brightly.
Troy Deeney did not exactly enjoy the best run of his Watford career during Marco Silva’s time at Vicarage Road.
Injuries meant the long-serving striker was late to the party and, by the time he was fully fit, Silva had settled on other options in attack. But that does not mean there was not a mutual respect between player and coach.
Speaking on Monday Night Football on Sky Sports (17 September, 7:00pm), Deeney described Silva as the best manager he has ever had. With this in mind, should the former Hull City and Sporting Lisbon boss be tempted to reunite with Deeney at Goodison Park?
If Everton’s 3-1 home defeat against West Ham last week proved anything, it is that Silva’s ability to succeed with the Toffees could be hindered by their lack of a quality centre-forward.

Deeney, in contrast, has started this season on fire. The 30-year-old has scored twice and set up one more goal already; thriving in a deeper role behind Andre Gray while still possessing the aggression and strength to lead the line. There has even been talk of an England call-up.
Deeney’s selfless style, coupled with his quality in front of goal, means he is the sort of centre forward who could get the best out of Gylfi Sigurdsson, Theo Walcott, Richarlison and co at Goodison Park.
