Leicester City wanted Samu Saiz in the Premier League back in 2016 and his impressive Championship form for Leeds United has seen him stand out.

After two transfer windows and two failed escapes, Riyad Mahrez looks likely to finally leave Leicester City this summer.
And The Foxes have quite the challenge replacing a player who was not only their star man in that infamous Premier League title-winning campaign but has been their most impressive performer ever since.
But could Mahrez’s impending exit have repercussions at Elland Road? Possibly.

Spanish paper AS claimed in the summer of 2016 that Leicester were looking at a little-known Spanish playmaker by the name of Samu Saiz – who is now tearing up trees at Leeds United.
Leicester could have signed Saiz for less than £500,000 then but it is fair to say he would cost far more now, almost a year on from his £3 million move to West Yorkshire from Spanish second tier side Huesca.

The 27-year-old has not been at his brilliant best since being banned for spitting at a Newport County player in January but has still been Leeds’ most dangerous and consistent performer, scoring nine goals and setting up another seven in all competitions.
And with Leicester soon to be in need of a new creative linchpin, is there a chance they could turn to Saiz again? Leeds fans will be hoping they do not.
