Premier League duo Everton and Newcastle United were both linked with Sporting Lisbon winger Carlos Mane in the summer.

With William Carvalho, Rui Patricio, Cristiano Piccini, Gelson Martins and co forcing their way out of Sporting Lisbon in the summer after a turbulent season at the Estadio Jose Alvalade, Carlos Mane was one of the few star players who remained.
Though this was not due to a lack of interest.
According to TEAMtalk, Everton and Newcastle United were both keen to bring the versatile forward to England but, by the time the transfer slammed shut, Mane had gone nowhere.
But if The Toffees or The Magpies are still interested in the former Portugal U23 international, they could find that Sporting are willing to listen to offers once the transfer window swings open again.
Because Mane has really struggled for opportunities since returning to Lisbon from a loan spell in Germany with VFB Stuttgart. Mane has made just four appearances in all competitions – and has been left out of the match day squad for seven out of Sporting’s 11 Primeira Liga games.

Between Everton and Newcastle, the latter certainly appears more in need of a speedy forward like Mane.
Newcastle have struggled for goals and creativity all season and The Chronicle reports that Rafa Benitez is desperate to sign a winger in January.
Everton, meanwhile, have Richarlison, Bernard and Theo Walcott to choose from.
