Celtic have completed the signing of Marvin Compper from Bundesliga giants RB Leipzig.

Marvin Compper did not need too much encouragement to put pen to paper on a two-and-a-half year deal at Celtic. Not after speaking with his RB Leipzig teammate, goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi, who spent time working with Brendan Rodgers at Liverpool.
“I talked to our goalkeeper who was working with Brendan Rodgers at Liverpool, Pete Gulacsi. He was telling me great things about the UK and also Celtic as a team, as a club,” Compper, the £1 million centre-back, told the BBC.
“He said Brendan was fantastic with players, fantastic knowledge about everything, very good preparation, detail is very important – only good things.”

Gulacsi never made a first-team appearance for Liverpool, but the fact he speaks so highly of Rodgers tells you all you need to know about how highly respected the Northern Irishman is amongst the majority of those he has worked with in his managerial career.
Rodgers reunion?
But if the Hungarian shot-stopper enjoyed learning from Rodgers so much, perhaps he should give thought to following Compper to Celtic Park. After all, The Hoops could do with a new first-choice goalkeeper, Craig Gordon looking every one of his 34 years in a horror-show performance during Sunday’s 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Hearts.
Gulacsi, meanwhile, is coming into his prime at the age of 27 and there have been few better goalkeepers than him since Leipzig were promoted to the Bundesliga in 2016. He starred as Ralf Hasenhuttl’s side finished second in their first ever top flight season.

Leipzig were more than happy to let Compper go with the defender falling down the pecking order but Gulacsi, the club’s first-choice stopper, would be far more difficult to sign.
Although with Gulacsi a big fan of Rodgers, and with Leipzig boasting the talented Yvon Mvogo in reserve, there is no harm in Celtic making an enquiry.
