Newcastle United are one of many Premier League clubs interest in Norwich City winger Jacob Murphy but could they strike a convenient deal?

While Spanish superstars Saul Niguez and Dani Ceballos stole the show at this summer’s European Under-21 Championships, Poland was also the stage where Jacob Murphy came of age.

An impressive breakthrough campaign with Norwich City in the 2016/17 Championship season preceded a number of fine showings for Aidy Boothroyd’s Young Lions as they reached the semi-final for the first time since 2009.

Coming off the bench to turn the game around against Slovakia in the group stage before netting in the 3-0 win against hosts Poland, it is little surprise Murphy has a whole host of Premier League suitors on his trail.

According to The Chronicle, the 22-year-old is on Newcastle United’s radar as manager Rafael Benitez desperately attempts to add further quality out wide. With nine goals and six assists in the Championship last season, there’s little doubt about the £8 million-rated Murphy’s credentials.

However, there is plenty of competition for a player who thrived in an unfamiliar right-back role at times under Boothroyd. The Mirror adds that Crystal Palace, Swansea, Southampton and West Brom are all interested.

Though Newcastle may have a trump card. The Northern Echo claims that Norwich are interested in The Magpies veteran targetman Daryl Murphy this summer. The Republic of Ireland forward, who made his name at Anglian rivals Ipswich Town, is likely to leave this summer as Benitez seeks to upgrade his forward line and is reportedly valued at £3 million.

However, with Newcastle wanting to sell, and having an interest in his fleet-footed namesake, could a deal be struck to exchange one Murphy for another?

Norwich will know they face a huge task keeping hold of their prized asset this summer but striking a deal with Newcastle could at least mean they get a proven Championship goal-scorer in return.
