Leeds United could let Andy Lonergan leave for Championship rivals Sunderland if Adam Bogdan arrives from Premier League giants Liverpool.

Leeds United could replace one goalkeeper with another before the close of the transfer window.
And a loan move for Liverpool’s forgotten man Adam Bogdan is high on the agenda.

But while Bogdan is four years younger and technically a Premier League player, would he really represent much of an improvement on Lonergan?
Yes, Lonergan would depart West Yorkshire having made quite a poor final impression, losing 2-1 to Newport County in the FA Cup on what could be his final game for the club. His most recent Championship appearance, meanwhile, was November’s humiliating 4-1 thumping away at Wolves.
But Lonergan is a proven and experienced Championship goalkeeper who, in his first few outings in Leeds colours this season, appeared far more solid than his German counterpart Felix Wiedwald.
Bogdan, in stark contrast, would arrive having barely played for his current club. The Hungarian is a distant fourth in the pecking order at Anfield having made just six appearances since his shock move to the Reds.

And it is fair to say Bogdan did not exactly cover himself in glory during those rare chances at Liverpool, enduring a howler in a 3-0 defeat to Watford and conceding directly from a corner kick in a FA Cup clash with Exeter City.
He might be a bigger name that Lonergan but that does not mean he is a better ‘keeper.
