Could Laurent Blanc make Cavani to Everton a genuine possibility?

Everton reportedly want to bring former PSG boss Laurent Blanc to the Premier League and Farhad Moshiri is dreaming of Edinson Cavani, too

Laurent Blanc’s two-year spell out of management could come to an end this summer.

Because the April edition of France Football (page 13) believes that the former Paris Saint-Germain boss could be an option for either Chelsea or Everton, should Antonio Conte and Sam Allardyce depart as expected at the end of this season.

Blanc might not have worked since he was sacked by PSG in 2016 but his appointment would be a coup for an Everton side who have been linked with promising if slightly unproven coaches such as Paulo Fonseca and Marco Silva.

Blanc is a former France boss who has guided Bordeaux and PSG to the Ligue 1 title. And, who knows, perhaps he could also make it possible for one of the best strikers in world football to move to Goodison Park.

As reported by the Times back in November, Everton’s majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri is keen to make a real statement in the transfer market by bringing in a marquee signing of real calibre – with PSG’s Uruguayan hit man Edinson Cavani the dream target.

It seems hugely unlikely that Cavani would leave a side with ambitions to win the Champions League to sign for Everton who, despite all their money, are facing a fight to finish in the top half of England’s top flight this season.

But despite not always seeing eye to eye with Blanc at PSG, Cavani was a star under the 1998 World Cup winner at the Parc des Princes, scoring 81 goals between 2013 and 2015. The 30-year-old has also netted 85 in the last two seasons.

Hiring Blanc and signing Cavani may look like a pipe dream, but Everton should take solace in knowing that Moshiri has some big plans for the club.
