Premier League outfit Spurs are reportedly keen to sign Ajax’s Eredivisie starlet David Neres but what does this mean for Erik Lamela in North London?

It has been a testing couple of weeks for Tottenham Hotspur but Mauricio Pochettino should at least have been pleased by the impressive form of Erik Lamela.
The Argentine winger is starting to find his feet again after spending most of the last year-and-a-half stuck on the sidelines. Lamela has scored in successive Premier League games against Liverpool and Brighton and impressed in the unfortunate Champions League defeat to Inter Milan in midweek.
However, his future could still be the subject of speculation in January. Because, according to The Express, Spurs are once again tracking Ajax’s £45 million-rated winger David Neres and Lamela could be the player most at risk if the 21-year-old follows Christian Eriksen, Davinson Sanchez and Jan Vertonghen to North London.
Neres was hugely impressive in the Eredivisie last season, scoring 14 goals and setting up 11 more.

And it is interesting to note that, according to Calciomercato, Tottenham were keen to sell the former Roma winger to Inter Milan for around £31 million at the start of the summer – and Lamela himself was attracted by a return to Italy.
If Spurs were interested in cashing in, you could imagine that Lamela’s place in the squad is once again set to come under threat should Neres arrive – regardless of his recent impressive form.
