Premier League outfit Everton could reportedly loan out Kieran Dowell in January after he spent last season in the Championship with Nottingham Forest

Kieran Dowell came on leaps and bounds at Nottingham Forest last season. But, like Ademola Lookman, the highly-rated midfielder has failed to force his way into Everton’s first-team plans after an impressive loan spell away from Goodison Park.
Dowell has not made a single Premier League appearance all season and has only been included in the match-day squad on three occasions.
So it makes sense for the 21-year-old to leave on loan again when January rolls around. According to The Sun (14 October, page 61), Dowell could be on his way in the New Year alongside fellow fresh-faced Toffees Anthony Evans and Fraser Hornby.
But should Nottingham Forest be lining up to bring the Liverpudlian starlet back to the City Ground? Dowell certainly made his mark at Forest and with nine goals in 38 games he finished last season as their top Championship goalscorer.
Dowell, then, has shown that he can make the difference in the second tier, and in Nottingham Forest colours. But has a return to the East Midlands passed him by?

Forest signed a whole host of creative midfielders in the summer and, should Dowell return, he would have to compete with Joao Carvalho, Gil Dias, Diego Goncalves and co.
The youngster needs regular first-team football to aid his development and there is no guarantee of that in Aitor Karanka’s side right now.
